Special Initiatives

I come from a family with a long history of service to our communities. I have tried to live up to my family’s traditions by speaking out for human rights around the world. As an Asian Canadian, I have promoted respect for others, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender or religion.

With my appointment to the Senate of Canada, I have been given an opportunity to have a direct impact on public policies and legislation that impact the lives of Canadians. I believe it is my duty to act in the best interests of all Canadians while raising issues that might otherwise not be addressed in our government.

In this section, you will find some of the special projects I have initiated, and the issues I have championed as a Senator. In all of these activities, I have tried to bring people together from different cultures in an ongoing intercultural dialogue, to build better understanding between nations, and to advocate for the equality of all peoples.
